NENE-163-01a work order

North Eastern Railroad 2004

Northeast Division

---------------------------

Route: NEC 4.0

Work Order: NENE-163-01a

Type: Road work

Time: 8:25 A.M.

Season: Summer

Weather: Clear

Difficulty: Easy 1.2 hours

Train: Lead Loco: GP40 MOW

Consist: 9260 Tons and 3060 Feet

Class: 1

---------------------------

Activity Description:  A Heavy drag through heavier traffic.

Heading north on NEC4.0, you have a heavy load of ballast that needs to be spread around.

Not really too much to explain. Drop the cars from number 45 back at Odenton MOW (only number 45 shows in the workorder) then just follow the popup instructions.  We will spend the first 5 minutes pumping up the air.  Don't leave early.

This work order has a lot of AI in it.  To stay close to the timing I would suggest you keep the load meter just in the green or run about 5 below the speed limit, which ever is higher.  This doesn't count for the restricted zones; I kept those very close to 15 mph.

You may also want to consider turning down distance and or other options in MSTS if you have an average system.  My system is an Athlon running at 1.8 gig, 512 DDR memory, 128 meg video card and in some places the framerate dropped to 14. You can guage the need to adjust on those specs.  Options were set at 1024x768 graphics high, spectacular lighting and shadows off.

The last car in your consist after the drop should be #44

Warning: If the conductor says to wait for dispatch , you will want to wait for dispatch  :-) I don't believe this activity could be called prototypical, any dispatcher stuck with this kind of traffic would have ulcers by lunchtime, but I think it's fun :-)

I hope you enjoy part 1 of this work order

Bob Sutherland
