Work Order: NENJ-LFYD-026-18-OAK
Time: 08:15 AM
Season: Summer
Weather: Clear
MSTS Difficulty: Hard
Duration: 8 hours 30 minutes
Train: NERR GP-30 x2
Activity Difficulty Level: 5
----------------------------------------
Your work this morning is to
break up and deliver the cars
from the inbound MP grain train
that arrived last night to local
industries that have been
suffering from a grain
shortage. Additionally, you
need to deliver other freight
cars located in Oak Island Yard
as
instructed Going to be a
busy shift! You've been
assigned a pair of GP30's to get
your work done.
This is the lead-in activity to
NENJ-LFYD-026-19-HBS
NOTE: If you do not enjoy
intense switching activities,
stop NOW!
Speed limits:
Yards: 15 MPH
Main: As posted, unless
otherwise advised by Dispatch.
Other: 15 MPH
Drive Safely!
Operational Notes:
This activity is 98% fully
pathed
so that the engineer uses
reverse points to make almost
all movements. On occasion the
engineer will need to set
switches manually prior to
reaching a reversing point to
complete required actions.
When performing the assemble
train actions in Oak Island
Yard, shift 'excess' cars one
track to the left as you proceed
through the work order -- this
will ensure that cars are in the
proper position for later moves.
Prior to moving out of OIY for
the BP oil delivery, move the
syrup cars one track left so
that they are clear of the entry
to siding 8.
After setting out the empties
from BP Oil on your return to
OIY, the path takes directly to
the
Airslide hoppers. If you
have difficulty using both
engines for the car shuffle on
track 3 prior to moving the cars
on track 2 to AHB, drop the 2d
loco on track 2 in front of the
airslide
hoppers BEFORE doing the car
shuffle on track three. (There
is room to use both locos, but
it is extremely tight and you
must be VERY accurate with
superb engine control.)
You
MUST build both set outs of
grain car blocks at the north
end yard before departing the
yard. The appropriate sequence
when leaving the yard is to have
the north end grain elevator
cars immediately in front of the
loco and the North Bergen grain
elevator cars in front of them
(You'll disconnect them before
making the north end grain
elevator
setout after clearing the
yard).
I
tested this activity extensively
on two different systems. On my
P4/2.4 desktop (2GB RAM/128MB
Nvidia
graphics card), I did not have
to 'set down' any of the
graphics or sound settings. On
my P4/2.4 laptop (512MB RAM/64MB
Nvidia
graphics card) I got my best
performance by setting Quantity
of Sounds to Medium, Visibility
to 1000, Terrain Error Threshold
to 75, World Object Density to
6, World Objects Quality to 2,
and World Objects Texture to 2.
I also disabled dynamic
shadows. I use DirectX 9a.

First some
tips:
Read the
operational notes in the printed
work order.
There are
a lot of red lights. Tab
to get through those that will
allow it. Panic with the others.
Some red
lights come very quickly after a
yellow so beware.
When picking
up a consist make sure you only
have what is needed. At least
one consist needs a wagon
dropped off it otherwise you
will not finish.
Regularly
check that all the pick ups and
drop offs have been completed
(with the exception of one that
does not register you get a
pop up about this) by saving and
then exiting the work order and
looking at the details. Its a
pain to have to go back over an
hour I know !!
The list
below is in the correct order of
performing the work order.
Finally, save regularly this
work order can cause your PC to
crash due to the intensity of
the graphics and the number of
wagons around.
