North Eastern Railroad Freight Activity (c) 2003
NEOW Reiner #079 01
Tuesday 8:30 am
Route: Ohio Rail
----------------------------------------
Work Order: NEOW079_01
Time: 8:30 a.m.
Season: Autumn
Weather: Rain
Difficulty: Hard
Duration:2 hours
Train: 1 SD70 and 1 SD40
Class: 3
Your assigned dispatch call number is 9237. You
are responsible for hauling a 52-unit coal train
to Hawkin's Pier for
loading onto barges. Your train weighs 7,400
tons, so you are a little light on power; use
judicious train handling to avoid broken
couplers. Traffic is heavy, but should not be a
problem as long as you keep to your schedule.
There is a restricted speed zone passing through
the Mill Grove yards due to maintenance on an
adjacent track, from mile 10.5 to 9.5. You have
mainline clearance from 8:30 am to 9:45 a.m.
Car locations:
all
to Hawkin's
Pier (any order)
Set out 26 cars on each pier track; you have to
back them all the way to the end to make them
fit. When finished, drive all 3 engines and the
caboose to the Marietta maintenance yard.
Speed Limits:
Yards = 15 MPH
Marietta North yard = 30 MPH
Main = As posted
Other = As posted
Drive Safely!
Jon, NERR # 079
Notes: This is my first MS activity that (a)
works as intended, and (b) I feel comfortable
sharing with others. Feedback and constructive
criticism is welcome. It was originally part "b"
of a 2-part activity, but after hours of fiddling
couldn't get part "a" to work right, so I'm giving
it a rest and releasing part "b" by itself. If
you have difficulty getting the train restarted up
the hill at the Reiner
helper tracks, see the NEOW079_01_hints.txt file.
I very carefully selected engines with just
'barely' enough power to negotiate the grades.
Being a long and heavy train, you must handle it
very carefully--it will not start or stop quickly
or easily.
