NEDF 109 L02b - Taking
loaded hoppers from Valley Mining to Circus City -
part 3
Work Order: NEDF 109 L02b
Time: 10:30 am
Season: Summer
Weather: Clear
Duration: 1h 50m
Train: F45
Class: 5 (simply because
of weight/grades)
-----------------
This is part 3 of 4 -
Running the Jacks Meadows to Valley Mining local with
empties and loaded coming back. A
tough daily run to satisfy requirements of the JM
Power Station. Be careful of the
grades ..
or you'll be picking cotton
rather than running a train. Also keep the loadmeter
out of the red ..
it can be done if you keep
your speed up
We just found out we are
going through Circus City to drop off some of these
hoppers at the yard to go Westbound rather than going
back the normal way. We are beginning at the Engine
house where we last ended.
------------------
NOTES: There is only one
AI due to low fps caused by long unit and mountainous
terrain. The fps is extremely low (7-10) at both ends,
but workable (10-20) in the middle on a PIII 800. If
you absolutely can't run it because of train length,
you can leave the last 10 cars off at Outgoing 3 and
adjust your engines accordingly. The first helper has
to go since it is dropped off enroute.
-------------------
Activity Notes:
Pickup 3 helpers next to
you
Turnaround on
Wye, may have to wait for
VM-CC to clear
Pickup all cars on
Outgoing 4, then Outgoing3 and wait for signal
If you get a run on it
out of the mine, you should be able to keep the
loadmeter just under the red by keeping it to notch 7
most of the time (after getting out of the Mining
track itself). This is a very slow 20mph grade for the
next 15 miles
Drop Engine #32782-0 at
Valley Mining Siding-keep inside the siding signals
since there is only one reverse point.
Suggestion: (not
enforced) This is a heavy
unit and will get away from you very easily
12-15 mph - Descent from
Valley Mining Siding to Klosen Ridge
23- 25 mph - Klosen Ridge
to Junctionville
Separate cars 32781-0-14
and drag them to the back of the track with you.
Run around and turn on
the wye, leaving your last two helpers there.
Back into Outgoing4 to
pick up the front part of your consist and this part
will end there
General Speedlimits:
15mph - yards
30mph - 10degree or
tighter crossovers
Others as marked
