Work Order: NEEM018a FLO

be done!)

The early season orange
harvest is reaching a fevered pace in Florida.
Processing plants are swamped with Hamlin and Parson
Brown varieties, warehouses are at capacity. Shippers
are screaming for as much tonnage as
as the NERR can muster, to
get oranges to the cold storage and distribution
facilities in the Midwest and Northeast.
NEEM018a FLO is part of a
series of work orders, which can be done in any order
but are designed to be done consecutively as shown
below, to represent different parts of the
NERR's traffic handling
the Florida orange harvest. Other work orders will
have the FLO extension in the name, to include:
NEPR018b FLO (Hoodoo
Pass)
NEIC018c FLO
NEFF018d FLO
NEFF018e FLO
NEFL018f FLO
NEFL018g FLO
NEEM018h FLO
NENE018i FLO
NENJ018j FLO
The job today is to make
the local run along the East Metro subdivision.
You'll pick up all the reefers that have been staged
along the route over the last few weeks, preparatory
to the Florida harvest.
The late hurricane that
hit along the east coast a couple of days ago has
caused extensive flooding in Titan City and south, so
the reefers are being routed over Hoodoo Pass
instead. The line is yours today, there's no other
traffic south of Big City due to the storm.
Popups will contain work order entries as you
proceed. Most switching is manual, get permission to
pass reds. Keep the caboose at the end of the train.
Slim, the conductor,
doesn't like to be jostled during
setouts and pickups.
[Notes: 1. On the SW1500,
in the cabview, the right
arrow lets you look out the back window.
2. A glitch
on this route causes the speed limit to go to 15 when
exiting an industry siding. Speed limit is 35 on the
main.
3. You'll
need maps!
