NEER-042-01 work order

Work Order: NEER-042-01

Time: 8:00

Season: Summer

Weather: Clear

Duration: 2 hr 00 min

Train: GP38

Class: 2

This morning you will be using GP38's 1011 and 1005 to take a variety of loads and empties from Walton Yard to Hercules Powder and Radford Army Ammunition Plant. Along the way you will also pick up some empties and loads. Your call sign will be westbound 1011.

Hercules Powder receives loads of sulfur, charcoal and potassium nitrate in a variety of hoppers. The  finished product, gunpowder, is then shipped to Radford Army Ammunition Plant.

Radford manufactures a number of different types of ammunition primarily for the Army. In addition to the loads of gunpowder in hoppers received from Hercules Powder, Radford will receive a variety of boxcars containing other products such as shell casings, firing caps, etc. Outgoing shipments of ammunition are usually in boxcars.

This activity will end at Belspring MOW where you will meet the eastbound local. Options for future activities include continuing on as a peddler freight along the length of Wisconsin Central or swapping trains with the eastbound local and returning to Walton Yard to break up the consist for future delivery.
