----------------------------------------
Work Order: NERP 090-2
Location: Raton Pass
route Raton Yard to York Canyon Mine
Time:10:00
a.m.
Season: Summer
Weather: Clear
Difficulty:
Medium
Duration: 2hr 40 minutes
Train: AC6000 #9939
Class:2
----------------------------------------
A lengthy repair job on
the main through freight route has caused major
changes to normal operations. Through freight traffic
has returned to the Raton Pass route until the main
freight route (with lesser grades) can be reopened.
Engineers with knowledge of the route have been
pressed into service. Vacations have been
cancelled. As operator of the twice weekly coal
delivery from Wyoming to San Diego you have just
completed a trip over the pass with
an additional transfer
freight and placed it in the yard at Raton.
New orders require you
to (1)cut the power from
the Transfer train you just delivered and connect it
to the rear of a train of empty hoppers heading East
back over the pass; (2) Add a recently delivered
string of empty hoppers to the loaded hoppers bound
for San Diego and deliver them to York Canyon Coal
Mine and (3) pick up a unit coal train for delivery to
Las Vegas.
This is the second of
several activities to move the coal through the
Southwest division.
The time is10 AM and, you
are awaiting clearance at Raton Yard
with 2x AC6000's and one
SD40-2. Traffic in both directions is heavy. Weather
is mild and clear.
This is the second WO in
a series to move the coal through the Southwest
division.
