GG-1
#4600 (1.9 MB)
The
GG-1 is perhaps one of the most recognizable
symbols of American railroading. The
Pennsylvania Railroad operated nearly 140
GG-1s starting in 1934. The last GG-1s were
retired in 1983. The GG-1 was a versatile and
durable locomotive, and served the PRR and her
successors Penn Central and Conrail (as well
as Amtrak and NJT) in both passenger and
freight service.
